"Mushroom gummies" can mean very different things depending on where you shop, which causes a lot of confusion. This guide explains what Delta-9 mushroom gummies are, what they are not, and how to use them sensibly.
The Short Answer
Delta-9 mushroom gummies combine two things in one edible:
- Hemp-derived Delta-9 THC, the cannabinoid responsible for the familiar THC experience.
- Functional mushrooms such as Lion's Mane and Reishi, non-psychedelic mushrooms that have been used in food and traditional practices for centuries.
They Do Not Contain Psilocybin
This is the most important point. "Functional" mushrooms like Lion's Mane and Reishi are not "magic" mushrooms. They contain no psilocybin and are not psychedelic. Any effect you feel from a Delta-9 mushroom gummy comes from the THC.
Be cautious with products that use the word "mushroom" without saying exactly which species are inside, and always check the ingredient list and lab results.
What Are Functional Mushrooms?
"Functional mushrooms" is a broad term for edible species valued for more than flavor. Two of the most common in edibles are:
- Lion's Mane (Hericium erinaceus): a shaggy white mushroom long eaten as food in East Asia.
- Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum): a woody mushroom with a long history in traditional practices.

How Fast Do They Kick In?
Traditional edibles are digested before the THC reaches your bloodstream, which often takes 45 minutes to 2 hours. Some gummies, including FLOAT Gummies, use a fast-acting formula. Most people feel the first effects within 10–20 minutes, but this varies with your body, what you've eaten and your tolerance.
How to Dose
- New to THC? Start with half a gummy (about 5mg) and wait at least an hour before taking more.
- Some experience? One 10mg gummy is a typical serving.
- Don't stack doses quickly. Even fast-acting edibles keep building after the first effects appear.
- Never drive or operate machinery after using THC.
Read the milligrams per serving on the label, not just the package total. For example, a 10-gummy pouch at 10mg each contains 100mg in total.
